Over the past month, our policy team has been actively engaging with stakeholders across Europe to bring forward the interests of our members and ensure Carbon Capture and Utilisation (#CCU) is part of Europe’s climate and industrial transition. Here are a few key highlights:
🔹 INITIATE Roundtable (24/04/25)
Co-hosted with the EU-funded INITIATE project, this roundtable gathered industry leaders and researchers to discuss CCU, the EU ETS, and the Clean Industrial Deal.
🔹 Advocacy with the Greens in European Parliament (14/04/25)
We met with policy advisors to MEPs from the Greens political group to exchange on the synergies between CCU, fossil fuel phase-out strategies, and the deployment of renewables. It was a fruitful dialogue to align on shared climate ambitions.
🔹 Helmholtz Chemical Policy Workshop (10/04/25)
We contributed to discussions on the future of the chemicals sector and the revision of REACH legislation. A crucial debate is underway on how to balance industrial competitiveness with environmental safety, an area where CCU could play a transformative role.
🔹 CINEA Clean Tech Conference (08/04/25)
Our team attended this key event organised by DG CLIMA and CINEA, where Commission officials and experts explored the role of the Clean Industrial Deal in boosting EU competitiveness through cleantech innovation.
🔹 Concertation Rhône decarbonation (03/04/25)
CO₂ Value Europe was invited to speak at a Public Concertation in southern France on a CO₂ capture and storage/utilisation project. We shared insights alongside DGEC, Haut Conseil pour le Climat, Axelera, PIICTO, and Vicat, highlighting both the potential and constraints of CCU technologies.
🔹 EU Industry: Kickstarting a resilient and decarbonised industry for clean technology in the European Parliament (26/03/25)
We joined the Renew Europe event co-hosted with Équilibre des Énergies, bringing together voices like MEPs Christophe Grudler, Tsvetelina Penkova, and Tom Berendsen, alongside companies such as EDF, Airbus, and Maersk. Discussions centred on scaling up renewables and low-carbon technologies across the EU.
We’re grateful to all partners and policymakers who took the time to listen and share.
