Newsletter - June 2023
Dear members and followers, In our June edition, you will witness our participation in many past and upcoming conferences to exchange with industrial actors and authorities and to increase understanding of the contribution of CCU in reaching the EU's climate and circularity goals. On the policy front, we are slowly coming to an end of an unprecedented policy-making period with many instruments being officially adopted (e.g. REDII Delegated Acts, ETS, CBAM) and others being almost there (e.g. REDIII, ReFuel EU, FuelEU Maritime, NZIA). We raise your attention to the launch of the public consultation on the Industrial Carbon Management Strategy that will detail the role that CCU and CCS can play in the EU. The consultation is closing on the 31st of August 2023 and we strongly invite CCU followers to respond and highlight the important contributions of CCU. CO2 Value Europe will also include quantitative elements of the Roadmap exercise that we have been undertaking with our members. On internal affairs, we welcome Pablo Ortiz from Tecnalia and Frederik Verhelst from Lhoist as newly appointed members of the Board of Directors. Our Scientific Advisory Committee is also welcoming Prof. Ruben Snellings from KU Leuven as its newest member. Congratulations to the Committee for important publications in the area of CCU as you will see below. A final welcome to the CO2 Value Europe family to our newest members. Enjoy the reading and your summer break and please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Newsletter - April 2023
Dear members and followers, Welcome to the April edition of our newsletter. A policy-packed newsletter, and rightfully so, as many Fit-for-55 policy files have reached agreement among EU institutions; often with somewhat less ambitious targets than initially foreseen but still giving clear signals for the deployment of CCU technologies. We are also asking that the newly proposed Net Zero Industry Act fully recognises CCU as a strategic technology. Besides policy news, we are highlighting a number of very interesting industrial collaborations, the developments of the Innovation Fund with the publication of the 3rd small-scale call and the details of the pilot auction for green hydrogen production, as well as a series of very interesting upcoming events; not to forget the CO₂ Value Days, our members’ annual event taking place in October in Barcelona. As always, welcome to the CO₂ Value Europe family to our newest members and, for this edition, a special welcome to Pietro Guarato, our new Technical Officer, who will be strengthening the technical intelligence and analytic capacity of the Secretariat. Enjoy the reading and don’t hesitate to contact us.

Welcome to our first 2023 newsletter! The long wait for the REDII delegated acts has come to an end, leaving the industrial community with a bitter feeling. On the one hand, they are finally there, on the other they do set unnecessary limitations on the scope of Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) fuels. In this edition, a particular thank you goes to our Scientific Advisory Committee for their contributions to our two most recent peer-reviewed scientific articles that provide more insight into the merits of and misconceptions about CCU. Take also a look at our participation in important international forums like the World Economic Forum in Davos and the Bio360 Expo 2023 in Nantes. And of course, welcome to the CCU family to our newest members! Enjoy the reading and do not hesitate to reach out.

Newsletter – November 2022
The November edition brings good news in the area of funding support as the Innovation Fund has published its third large-scale call with a funding budget of €3 billion and we hope to see more CCU projects being awarded soon. On the policy front, is as busy as always with all stakeholders waiting for the announcement of the Carbon Removal Certification Mechanism and the Delegated Acts under REDII... almost as impatiently as Christmas. You are also invited to take a look at our annual event, our CO2 Value Days, and our involvement at further scientific (GHGT16, IPCC & CCU) and policy events (CCUS Forum, MEP Liese press conference) in Europe. Our family of EU projects has a new member with CCUS ZEN, a project aiming at developing CCU/CCS clusters in the Baltic and Mediterranean regions. Finally, we are happy to welcome new members since our September edition as you will see in the member’s corner.
