Welcome to Our New Member, Zaffra!
Zaffra, based in Amsterdam, is a joint venture between Sasol and Topsoe, dedicated to advancing the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Its mission is to accelerate the decarbonisation of the aviation sector by leveraging the world-class technologies, asset development, and operations expertise of its shareholders.
Our new member is currently advancing its Carbon Capture and Utilisation (#CCU) project pipeline with opportunities across Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Americas. In Europe, Zaffra is focused on e-SAF projects, the most advanced of which is Concrete Chemicals, a CCU project dealing with the production of synthetic fuels in the Brandenburg area of Germany. This 40KTPA power-to-liquid plant is aiming to start production in time to meet the ReFuelEU sub-mandate in 2030.
By enabling a low-carbon cement production in the long term, this CCU initiative contributes both to reaching Brandenburg’s CO2 reduction ambitions and the European Green Deal’s targets.
