Our new German member, Ucaneo, develops a next-generation Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology based on electrochemistry to remove CO₂ directly from the atmosphere.
Inspired by the human lung, Ucaneo’s approach combines an electrodialysis-driven pH swing with innovative (bio)catalysts and advanced component design to deliver high-purity CO₂ – for durable carbon removal as well as multiple industrial carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) applications, including fuels, chemicals, and materials.
In Q2 2026, Ucaneo will commission one of Germany’s largest industrial DAC plants in Berlin (~150 tCO₂/year) and is already advancing the design of its first-of-a-kind (FOAK) facility in the 1,000-1,500 tCO₂/year range.
