Founded in 2019 and based in Greece, Solmeyea is an EIC-financed company unifying biotechnology and sustainability. Their mission is to “inspire CO₂ circularity” through emblematic collaborations with heavy CO₂ emitting corporations by transforming their CO₂ off-gases into valuable market-ready products. The opportunities generated by their technology include food proteins to SAF and maritime biofuels. Starting with a pilot plant in 2021, they are rapidly expanding to a Flagship facility facility, now producing 40 tons of premium food and cosmetics ingredients annually.
Solmeyea developed SOL™, MEY™ and EA™. This is a distinct range of functional proteins, bioactive pigments and natural oils that are safely incorporated in any possible plant-based food matrices and emerging cosmetic formulation. Produced from microalgae, one of the most complete food sources on our planet, they are composed of everything from essential amino acids to poly-unsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants. Our new member is one of the first company worldwide producing EFSA- and FDA-approved food proteins from CO₂, 300x faster than crops and 100x faster than traditional microalgae cultivation, creating ingredients that offer ample amounts of low allergenicity, cruelty-free and non-GMO solutions.
