Our member SkyNRG, in collaboration with Skellefteå Kraft, is launching the project SkyKraft – a new partnership aimed at producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) using renewable electricity and biogenic CO₂, known as eSAF. Initiated in 2022, this large-scale project will be positioning Northern Sweden to lead the charge in the energy transition.

By harnessing nearly 100% renewable energy from hydro and wind power, Project SkyKraft will make a significant contribution to the EU’s climate strategies and targets, positioning Skellefteå as a key hub for next-generation sustainable industry and enabling aviation to reach net-zero emissions.

eSAF production, powered by Skellefteå Kraft’s renewable energy sources, will be both continuous and cost-effective, benefiting from the location’s strategic access to abundant renewable energy. With Sweden leading Europe in biogenic CO₂ production, SkyKraft will require only about 1% of the country’s current output to drive its success.
