sequestra, is a climate tech company based in Austria, dedicated to advancing and bringing to market breakthrough technologies for carbonating mineral materials. Their primary focus is on leveraging widely available industrial waste materials to drive sustainability. sequestra’s mission is to pioneer adaptable processes empowered by machine learning, ensuring cost-optimised carbonation for diverse materials, making a significant impact in mitigating global greenhouse gas emissions, and leading the way towards a more sustainable future.
Our new member is advancing technologies on two key fronts. First, it is developing the world’s first fully automated analysis system for optimising mineral carbonation parameters. From 2026, this system will enable standardised evaluation of a wide range of mineral materials, laying the foundation for the largest empirical database in the field of carbonation. Second, sequestra is scaling up carbon mineralisation technologies for industrial applications, targeting sectors such as steelmaking, construction, and waste incineration. In the medium term, our new member will offer end-to-end Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) solutions, ranging from material assessment to process design, monitoring, and guidance on the utilisation of carbonated materials.
