We are proud to see our member Seabound making significant strides in the carbontech sector through its participation in the Carbon to Value Initiative (C2V Initiative).
Headquartered in the UK, Seabound develops modular, scalable carbon capture equipment designed for use aboard ships.
Throughout the programme, Seabound has been actively collaborating with members of the Carbontech Leadership Council (CLC) to advance its technology and explore new avenues for growth. As part of its engagement with Shell, the company conducted a feasibility study centred on applying its carbon capture system to tanker vessels. In parallel, Seabound explored the possibility of testing its Seabound Container system on a large-scale Cat Marine engine at a Fraunhofer facility in Germany. Beyond these technical efforts, Seabound is also contributing to broader sector dialogue through its participation in the working groups of CO₂ Value Europe.
Looking ahead, the company has identified several promising opportunities for continued collaboration with CLC members, including the development of a joint product offering for marine engine customers, scaling up sorbent production, and exploring onshore project implementation.
The Carbon to Value Initiative recently concluded its fourth year with major progress in commercialising carbontech solutions. Led by Urban Future Lab, Greentown Labs, and Fraunhofer USA Inc., the programme connects pioneering carbontech start-ups with industry leaders on the Carbontech Leadership Council, fostering partnerships and accelerating deployment.
Year 4 highlights include:
🔵 Nine start-ups selected from over 120 applications across 29 countries.
🔵 Six-month accelerator with pilots, co-development agreements, and strategic collaborations.
🔵 Since launch: 35 start-ups supported, over $580M raised in follow-on funding, and more than 630 business relationships formed.
In addition to our member Seabound, the other eight start-ups selected for the fourth C2V cohort are Ardent, CarbonBlue, MacroCycle Technologies, Maple Materials, Oxylus Energy, Phlair, RenewCO₂, and Secant Fuel.
