Today, our Secretary General Anastasios Perimenis participated as a speaker in the panel discussion: “Waste-to-Energy (WtE) – Ready for the Future?” at the 10th CEWEP Waste-to-Energy Congress 2023, taking place from 14-16 June in Berlin, Germany.

During his presentation, our Secretary General stressed the challenges and opportunities for the valorisation of emissions from the Waste-to-Energy sector with Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) technologies.

CEWEP, Confederation of European Waste-to-Energy Plants, is the umbrella association of the operators of Waste-to-Energy (incineration with energy recovery) plants, representing about 410 plants from 23 countries. Its members make up more than 80% of the Waste-to-Energy capacity in Europe.

The 3-day event sees a wide range of speakers from the European Commission, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, UNECE: Working Party on Regulatory Cooperation and Standardization Policies (WP.6), academics, public authorities, WtE operators, and communication experts focusing on waste, energy, and climate topics in the ever-changing policy and technical environment.
