This morning, our Secretary General Anastasios Perimenis participated as a speaker in the “Industry Panel Session: Strategies towards a Net-Zero Carbon Economy” at the 11th International Freiberg Conference on Circular Carbon Technologies, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Our Secretary General’s presentation focused on:

🟢The contribution of CO₂ Value Europe, which represents stakeholders spanning the entire CCU value chain.
🟢The crucial role CCU plays in advancing the EU’s ambitious climate neutrality objectives.
🟢The challenge of scaling up CCU in the coming years and how its success relies on the blend of well-crafted policies and strategic financing.
🟢The remarkable versatility of CCU, which allows the deployment of its technologies and products across various sectors, including energy, chemistry, and materials.

The panel also included a lineup of distinguished guest speakers, including: Stephen Johnson, Chief Executive Officer at Illinois Clean Fuels, Andreas Neumann, Technical Director at our member LyondellBasell, Guus van Rossum, Sustainability Opportunity Manager at Shell and Irina Yarulina, Process Specialist in Polymer Recycling at Sulzer.

The 11th International Freiberg Conference, organised by the IEC TU Freiberg and the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, focuses on circular carbon and hydrogen technologies for the transition towards a net-zero carbon economy via recirculation of carbon-containing waste streams into the production cycle.

Over the next few days, the event will provide an interactive discussion forum not only for scientists, specialists, practitioners, and diverse stakeholders to exchange the latest insights for the transition towards a net-zero carbon society, but also for technology developers and plant operators to share their current/planned projects as well as operational experiences along the Waste-to-Products value chain.
