This morning, our Secretary General, Anastasios Perimenis, was invited by Repsol Foundation Energy Transition Chair and Rovira i Virgili University to deliver a keynote speech titled ‘Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU): Technologies, Pathways, and Commercial Realities’.
In his speech, our Secretary General presented:
🔵 CO2 Value Europe, our priorities, and large membership covering the entire CCU value chain.
🔵 The crucial role CCU plays in advancing the EU’s ambitious climate neutrality objectives.
🔵 The remarkable versatility of CCU, not only in emissions reduction but also as an alternative carbon feedstock, driving greater circularity in production systems.
🔵 The challenge of scaling up CCU in the coming years and how its success relies on the blend of well-crafted policies and strategic financing.
The event also included a lineup of distinguished guest speakers, including: Anna María Masdeu, Full professor of the Repsol Foundation Energy Transition Chair at Rovira i Virgili University on CO2 Capture and Use, Ruth Yerga, Coordinator of the Repsol’s Foundation Network of University Chairs, Diana Cano, Head of Renewable Fuels Projects at Repsol, Pelayo García, Group Leader at the Institute of Photonic Sciences ICFO, Walter Leitner, Director of the Molecular Catalysis group at the Max Plank Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion, Peter Gunning, Director of Sustainability and Technology at O.C.O. Technology.
We extend our thanks to the organisers for this opportunity to discuss the transformative potential of CCU. We were glad to see such great attendance, demonstrating how engaging this topic is for so many people.
