On the 7th of December, our Policy Director Tudy Bernier participated as a speaker in the session “CCUS hands-on“ at The European Industry & Energy Summit 2023, taking place from 7-8 December in Antwerp (BE).

During the session, sponsored by our Swiss member Endress+Hauser, Tudy gave participants a broad overview of carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) and how these technologies can contribute to mitigating climate change. The presentation was also an opportunity for Tudy to discuss the state of the art of these technologies, as well as provide a snapshot of the latest European Union policy developments to support the deployment of CCU projects.

The presentations were followed by a discussion with the rest of the panel on the opportunities and challenges for CCU at large. In particular, all speakers agreed on the need to support the wide deployment of CO2 transport infrastructure, the complementarity between different climate levers (e.g. CCU and CCS), and the need for a systemic approach to the climate transition.

The European Industry & Energy Summit 2023 provides a platform to connect industrial clusters, explore carbon capture and utilisation, unlock the potential of green hydrogen, embrace renewable energy generation, electrification, biotech advancements, and much more.

Our member Endress+Hauser is a global leader in measurement and automation technology for process and laboratory applications. The family company, headquartered in Reinach, Switzerland, has a total workforce of more than 15,000.
