Our members IFP Energies Nouvelles (IFPEN) and CEA co-authored a report on the production of synthetic fuels, highlighting the challenges and opportunities in this field. The paper focuses on the innovative technologies and scientific breakthroughs aimed at optimising synthetic fuel production, including:

🔵 Direct CO₂ conversion using solar energy and low-carbon electricity

🔵 New catalysts for transforming CO₂ into hydrocarbons and alcohols

🔵 Compressing value chains into integrated devices

These approaches are being explored through research programs at IFPEN and CEA, as well as in European initiatives such as SUNGERY. The ultimate goal is to develop advanced production methods by 2040-2050, integrating light and electricity to improve CO₂ conversion into sustainable fuels.
