Our Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) member Prof. Angela Di Benedetto and Prof. Michele Aresta, both from our Italian member IC2R, have contributed to the Just Transition Platform Working Group’s “Action 13: Towards a Carbon Cyclic Economy for Chemicals and Fuels“.
This recommendation paper on carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) analyses the potential of waste plastics, biomass, and carbon dioxide as alternative carbon sources and discusses tools such as industrial hubs and reskilling centres to drive transition in the Just Transition Fund (JTF) regions. The Just Transition Platform (JTP) Working Groups were established to support regions heavily impacted by the shift to a climate-neutral economy.
Congratulations to Prof. Angela Di Benedetto on her appointment as Just Transition Platform Working Group Ambassador. This recognition reflects her commitment and the significant contributions she has made within the Just Transition Platform Working Groups.
The Just Transition Platform (JTP) Working Groups (WGs), established in November 2021, unite stakeholders from across Europe to address the impacts of the shift towards a climate-neutral economy on communities and industries. The WGs are specifically focused on the carbon-intensive sectors of steel, cement, and chemicals, which are significantly affected by this transition. Additionally, there is a fourth WG dedicated to a Horizontal Stakeholder Strategy, aiming to engage a broader range of stakeholders in supporting a just and inclusive transition.
CO₂ Value Europe’s SAC comprises scientists who ensure the association’s actions are based on solid scientific evidence related to carbon capture and utilisation (CCU).
