CO₂ Value Europe’s Board Member, Stefanie Kesting, was interviewed by the Global CO₂ Initiative. The organisation is a part of the University of Michigan with the interview featured in their latest newsletter. The Global CO₂ Initiative’s mission is to lead and establish a new industry of CO₂ capture and conversion through evaluation, research, education, training, and outreach.

The interview covered Stefanie’s approach to new ways of thinking to build and scale up new businesses focusing on climate-mitigating technologies like Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU), summing up her role as “I therefore very practically lead and drive a business transition from a fossil world toward CO₂-free energy solutions.” It also touched on her roles in her various positions including Division Director and Managing Director of NEA Energy at our member NEUMAN & ESSER (NEA GROUP), Managing Director at ARCANUM Energy Systems GmbH & Co. KG as well as a Board Member at CO₂ Value Europe.

Stefanie also emphasised the benefits of collaboration in the CCU community, “I would love for more U.S. companies in the CCU, hydrogen or biomethane field to connect with European companies. I am very open to talking about joint projects in these sectors.” With the United States’ history of scaling up innovative technologies and European companies’ skills in engineering and technical solutions, this collaboration has the potential to boost climate mitigation technologies in the global market.

The Global CO₂ Initiative engages with international stakeholders to develop the educational discipline of carbon capture and conversion; accelerate a system-level process of technology assessment; and accelerate the translation of research to development and market introduction and broad-scale deployment.
