Our member Norsk e-Fuel has recently announced that Boeing has become one of its key project development partners to scale sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production and contribute to defossilising the aviation sector.

This strategic investment will accelerate the production of power-to-X SAF that can reduce lifecycle emissions by over 90% compared to conventional jet fuel.

Norsk e-Fuel is pioneering the power-to-X  process, using renewable power to create green hydrogen and combining it with recycled CO₂ from biogenic sources. With ambitious EU SAF mandates in place, this partnership will play a crucial role in advancing Europe’s aviation defossilisation efforts.

As making e-fuels competitive remains a priority, partnerships like this are critical to creating a robust SAF ecosystem and ensuring a more sustainable future for aviation. Boeing’s support is expected to help speed up e-SAF commercialisation in the Nordics and globally, contribute to meeting EU SAF targets (6% by 2030, 70% by 2050), and support the aviation industry’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.

Founded in 2019, Norsk e-Fuel is driving the shift to renewable aviation by developing industrial-scale  production of e-SAF from CO₂ and water. As a project developer, the company is building large-scale facilities to supply synthetic fuels to the aviation industry. Backed by strategic investors and partners, Norsk e-Fuel is committed to scaling power-to-X technology and creating a new value chain for sustainable aviation fuels.
