CO2 Value Europe is proud to be part of SUN2X-SET (EU Forum for Direct Solar Fuels), a new project funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe programme.
Launched in May 2026, SUN2X-SET aims to strengthen Europe’s leadership in Direct Solar Fuels (DSF) by bringing together key stakeholders from industry, academia, the research community, policymakers, and civil society.
Building on the achievements of previous flagship initiatives, the SUNERGY initiative and the SUNER-C project, SUN2X-SET will establish the EU Forum for Direct Solar Fuels R&I, while developing the first Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda and Technological Roadmap for the sector.
Over the next two years, the project will support the integration of Direct Solar Fuels into the Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan), contributing to industrial defossilisation, energy resilience, and Europe’s clean energy competitiveness.
The project is coordinated by the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) and brings together key partners with complementary expertise and a proven track record in solar fuels research, including CO2 Value Europe, CEA, and the University of Warsaw.
As part of the consortium, CO2 Value Europe will lead SUN2X-SET’s communication and dissemination activities throughout the project.
SUN2X-SET has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme under Grant Agreement No. 101268577.
