Our member, MGH Energy, has been selected to develop and operate a pioneering synthetic fuels production facility at the L’Ardoise industrial site. This follows the formal approval of the site’s redevelopment by the Agglomération du Gard rhodanien on 9 February 2026, officially designating the area as a “France 2030” strategic industrial site.
The project represents an investment of approximately €1 billion and is expected to create 20 permanent jobs during its operational phase, currently scheduled to begin in 2031. MGH Energy will establish a dedicated facility focused on supporting the global transition to green energy, producing up to 70,000 metric tons of e-kerosene and 50,000 metric tons of e-methanol annually. These fuels will play a critical role in defossilising the aviation and maritime sectors, helping industries meet both evolving regulatory requirements and commercial sustainability goals.
The production process will leverage a combination of low-carbon electricity, green hydrogen produced via water electrolysis, and captured carbon dioxide to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Following a phase of technical studies, regulatory procedures, and construction, the plant will serve as a vital hub for sustainable transport fuels.
