INERATEC Inaugurates ERA ONE Plant in Frankfurt to Scale Sustainable e-Fuels

Our member INERATEC has officially launched ERA ONE, a pioneering Power-to-Liquid (PtL) plant located in Frankfurt-Höchst, Germany.

Inaugurated earlier this June, ERA ONE is the largest plant of its kind in Europe and marks a major milestone in the commercial-scale production of e-Fuels. With an annual capacity of up to 2,500 tonnes, the facility will supply sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF), e-Diesel, and e-Chemicals, offering a viable decarbonisation solution for sectors that are hard to electrify, such as aviation and shipping.

The plant uses CO₂ from biogenic sources and green hydrogen sourced locally within the industrial park to produce synthetic crude oil. This is refined into drop-in ready fuels and base chemicals, supporting the transition to climate-neutral mobility and a more sustainable chemical industry.

ERA ONE is also a blueprint for scalable e-Fuel production. Its modular design enables rapid deployment of similar facilities, supporting INERATEC’s goal to significantly expand production by 2030 in line with EU climate targets.

ERA ONE is supported by strong public and private investment, including funding from the European Investment Bank (EIB), Breakthrough Energy Catalyst, and Germany’s Environmental Innovation Programme.
