Welcome to Our New Member IBA!
Based in Belgium, IBA is a world leader in particle accelerator technology.
Our new member has four core activities: Industrial Solutions, RadioPharma Solutions, Proton Therapy, and Dosimetry. IBA focuses on ambitious and innovative projects to develop capabilities of particle accelerators and to increase applications in which particle accelerators can make a difference including the treatment of forever chemicals in water, food ionisation, and polymer cross-linking.
Our new member is currently involved in two Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) initiatives:
🔵 The “Open Innovation Program”
In this program, IBA launches open calls focused on depolluting capabilities via a particle beam. Three specific open calls were launched in June 2024 for companies to apply and create consortia to work efficiently, innovate, and speed up solution intake to solve the proposed problem. These calls included: 1) Enhancing High-Energy Electron Beam for Microplastics Removal, 2) Enhancing CO₂ Treatment through High-Energy Electron Beam Technology, and 3) Maximizing Dioxin Remediation: Exploiting Synergies with High-Energy Electron Beam Technology.
🔵 PFAS-B
IBA is involved in the “PFAS-B” project alongside Belgian companies and is financed by the Walloon Region. The objective is to assess the electron beam for water treatment and initiate a circular economy with irradiation by-products. The project’s next step is to increase this technology’s capabilities with specific catalysts to assess CO₂’s potential circular economy.
