We’re glad to share how our member Neustark, part of our member Holcim’s MAQER Ventures portfolio, is revolutionising the construction industry by transforming concrete into a powerful tool for decarbonisation. Their groundbreaking mineralisation technology speeds up concrete carbonation from a process that once took centuries to just a few hours! This technology permanently binds CO₂ in recycled concrete, driving circular construction and reducing emissions.

How it Works:

🔵 CO₂ is captured from biogas plants, liquified, and transported to concrete recycling facilities.

🔵 At the recycling plants, Neustark injects CO₂ into old concrete, where it’s permanently stored in a mineral form, even if the concrete is reused in new structures.

🔵 This innovation turns demolition waste into low-carbon, circular building materials.

Holcim Partnership: In 2023, Holcim invested in Neustark to scale this solution across Switzerland, to store 500 tons of CO₂ annually in recycled concrete. Their collaboration has already saved 71 tons of CO₂ at Tech Cluster Zug.

Their partnership won the 2023 Deloitte “Technology Fast 50” Venture Client Award for its impact on sustainable construction.
