Our member, NG Nordic, a Finnish pioneer in sustainability, is partnering with ABB Oy, Wiring Accessories, to develop the first electrical accessories made from carbon dioxide-based plastic.

NG Nordic has boldly introduced innovations in plastics recycling, Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) and waste treatment. At ABB, sustainable development is a cross-cutting theme embedded throughout the business, which is present in decision-making throughout the entire value chain.

Through this collaboration, NG Nordic’s INGA plastic, a flagship product developed under its Carbon2x programme, will be used to manufacture light switches, sockets, and other electrical accessories, marking a major step forward in transforming CO₂ emissions from waste incineration into high-quality, versatile plastic materials.

The pilot plant for the project will be launched at the beginning of next year, with an industrial-scale test facility planned to recover up to 20,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year by the end of the decade.

Congratulations to NG Nordic and ABB for driving innovation and showing how collaboration can turn carbon emissions into valuable resources and promote circular material use.
