The “Best CO₂ Utilisation 2025” award recognises groundbreaking technologies that turn CO₂ into valuable products. This year, four out of six nominees are CO₂ Value Europe members, showcasing their leadership in Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU).
With innovations in CO₂ electrolysis, DAC, and high-value carbon materials, these pioneers are driving the transition to a circular carbon economy.
Co-organised by nova-Institute and CO₂ Value Europe, with the support of Yncoris, the award will be presented at the 13th CO₂-based Fuels and Chemicals Conference on 29-30 April 2025 in Cologne and online.
The Four CO₂ Value Europe Member Nominees:
🔵 eChemicles (HU): Low-Temperature Electrolyser for CO₂ Reduction
Developed the first scalable, low-temperature CO₂ electrolyser, turning emissions into valuable chemicals. Easily integrates with existing infrastructure and renewable energy.
🔵 Skytree (NL): Stratus Direct Air Capture (DAC) Park
A cost-competitive CO₂ source for Power-to-X, enabling sustainable fuel production. Uses industrial waste heat and renewable energy for efficiency.
🔵 TNO (NL): Sorption Enhanced DME Synthesis (SEDMES)
Converts CO₂ into dimethyl ether (DME), a cleaner fuel and hydrogen carrier, with high efficiency and reduced energy use.
🔵 UP Catalyst (EE): Battery-Grade Graphite from CO₂
Uses innovative electrochemical conversion to produce sustainable graphite and carbon nanotubes with 20x less energy than conventional methods.
The other two nominees are Far Eastern New Century Corporation (TW) with its FENC® TopGreen® CO₂-based NIPU technology, and Oxylus Energy (US) with its Methanol Producing Electrolyser.
The CO₂-based Fuels and Chemicals Conference 2025 is internationally established and has developed into a unique meeting and networking place for the entire CCU and Power-to-X industry and its customers.
