Congratulations to our member Holcim, and the project eM-Rhone it is part of, which was selected among the 13 “Industry Electrification and Hydrogen” projects by the European Union’s Innovation Fund.

The project eM-Rhône (electroMethanol-Rhône) aims to produce e-methanol using renewable hydrogen production and carbon capture and utilisation. Green hydrogen will be produced using an electrolyser solution supplied with renewable energy. The project plans to deploy Cryocap™ technology to capture CO2 from Holcim’s Le Teil cement plant.

Holcim is involved in two other carbon capture projects that have also been selected among the 8 “General decarbonisation” projects by the European Union’s Innovation Fund: KOdeCO net zero in Croatia and Go4Zero in Belgium.

Holcim is a global leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions. Its mission is to decarbonise building, while improving living standards for all with its broad range of low-carbon and circular solutions. With sustainability at the core of its strategy, Holcim is becoming a net-zero company with 1.5°C targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
