Exciting news from our members Norsk e-Fuel and Fortum! Norsk e-Fuel has secured 14 hectares of land in Rauma, Finland, marking a major step in its strategic expansion beyond Norway. Together with Fortum and the Port of Rauma, they will begin planning for grid connection and permitting to establish a cutting-edge e-fuel production facility.

This site will have the capacity to produce up to 100 million litres of e-fuel annually, most of which will be refined into synthetic sustainable aviation fuel (#SAF), supporting the aviation industry’s shift to fossil-free fuels. This partnership is critical as EU regulations push for an increase in e-SAF blending at airports, aiming for a minimum of 0,7% by 2030 and rising to 35% by 2050.

Finland, with its strong focus on clean energy and carbon capture measures, provides an ideal environment for e-fuel production. This expansion strengthens Norsk e-Fuel’s commitment to building a robust e-fuel industry across the Nordics and Europe, playing a key role in helping the continent achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
