We warmly welcome Alexandra de Schonen and Steffi Götzel to the Board of Directors of CO2 Value Europe, following their election by our members at the recent mid-term General Assembly.
Alexandra de Schonen, Head of EU Affairs at our member SUEZ, brings extensive expertise in hydrogen, CO₂ policies, and sustainable fuels, with a strong focus on Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU), waste-to-energy, and regulatory advocacy.
At SUEZ, she leads EU advocacy on circular economy, energy, and hydrogen, ensuring alignment with key policies such as ETS, CBAM, and the gas package. Alexandra also supports SUEZ’s strategy and business development in sustainable fuels, fostering synergies, providing regulatory expertise, and driving advocacy efforts across Europe.
Steffi Götzel, Global Sustainability Leader for Engineered Materials at our member Celanese, has over 20 years of cross-industry experience in consumer goods, chemicals, and materials, providing substantial insight into circular solutions, CCU technologies, advocacy, and industry collaborations.
At Celanese, she drives sustainable transformation through portfolio innovation, focusing on advancing sustainable solutions. She has recently led the launch of the first Polyoxymethylene (POM) materials made from low-carbon ISCC CFC (Carbon Footprint Certification)-certified methanol using CCU technology. Additionally, Steffi is actively engaging with EU policymakers on the Sustainable Carbon Cycles file to promote CCU adoption.
Our new Directors of the Board will play a key role in shaping CO₂ Value Europe’s strategic direction, advocating for favourable regulatory frameworks, and enhancing public and policymaker awareness of CCU’s benefits.
We look forward to exchanging insights and innovative ideas with this skilled and multifaceted Board as we continue to drive our association’s growth in the coming years.
