As of 1 January, Cyprus is holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union until July 2026. CO₂ Value Europe welcomes the Presidency’s commitment to advancing a more autonomous and competitive Europe.
Achieving this goal requires one essential condition: reconciling Europe’s industrial ambitions with its climate transition objectives. Cleantech solutions sit at the heart of this balance, and Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) technologies play a key role at the crossroads of competitiveness, resilience, and decarbonisation.
In the coming months, several policy files will be critical to give visibility and momentum to the CCU sector, including the Industrial Accelerator Act, the EU Bioeconomy Strategy and Biotech Act II, the Circular Economy Act, the EU ETS revision, the CO₂ transport infrastructure initiative, among others.
We look forward to engaging with the Cypriot EU Presidency and all relevant stakeholders to ensure these initiatives effectively support the development of a robust and investable CCU business case in Europe.
We invite policymakers and stakeholders to consult:
– The ICM Forum CCU Working Group “Report on enabling conditions for industrial deployment of CCU”.
– Our Library, gathering all CO₂ Value Europe positions and publications.
We stand ready to contribute to constructive dialogue and concrete solutions for a competitive, climate-neutral European industry.
