On the 28th of September, CO₂ Value Europe shared its insights and recommendations in response to the French Consultation on the national CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage) Strategy.

Here’s a summary of our key points:

🔵 Defossilisation & Carbon Circularity: We encourage EU member states, including France, to embrace defossilisation and carbon circularity concepts, aligning with European directives and strategies to meet carbon reduction targets.

🔵 Differentiating CCU: Distinguishing between Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU), CCS, and Carbon Dioxide Removals (CDR) is crucial to understand their unique benefits and limitations.

🔵 Combining Solutions: For sectors facing challenging emissions reduction, a combination of solutions, including CCU and CCS, is necessary due to infrastructure limitations and CO₂ “inevitable” emissions in certain processes.

🔵 CCU Products & Services: CCU offers renewable fuels, chemicals and materials that contribute to reduced carbon footprints, green hydrogen supply, and sustainable construction.

We provided specific recommendations on various aspects of CCU deployment and hope to see France align more closely with European objectives and legislation.
