Our Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) member, Christian Breyer, shares insights in a recent podcast episode, where he dives into the key findings of a scientific paper co-authored by our SAC and published in the peer-reviewed scientific journal Joule by Cell Press, now open access.

The paper, ‘Carbon capture and utilization: More than hiding CO₂ for some time’, clarifies some of the common myths about Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU), which still shape public opinion and influence the general socio-political acceptance of CCU technologies. It presents a science-based perspective on how CCU, particularly synthetic fuels produced from CO₂, water, and renewable energy, can play a crucial role in achieving climate goals.

🔵 The negative connotation of carbon and CO₂ should be reframed, as the goal is to defossilise, not just decarbonise, by building a circular carbon economy based on the utilisation of the CO₂ as a resource.
