The upcoming IPPC Methodology report on CDR, CCU and CCS will play a critical role for our sector, as it will update the methodological guidance used by countries worldwide for their national greenhouse gas inventories. These inventories underpin emissions accounting at every level, making this a unique opportunity for experts in our community to help ensure that the complexity of CCU value chains and cross-sector interactions is accurately and fairly represented.
The scientific scope and outline of the report were approved during the IPCC’s 63rd Plenary Session in Lima (27–30 October 2025). You can find the accepted outline here.
For those who want more context, the IPCC also hosted a special webinar on that report during COP30 last week, which can be re-watched here.
