Our 6th CO2 Value Days took place on the 6th and 7th of October and brought together 150 participants from Europe and America and international CCU technology providers to review and discuss all the latest CCU developments and the work of our Association. This year, our event was hosted by our partner BNP Paribas Fortis in the Auditorium Chancellerie, in Brussels.
On 6th October, our annual event started with a “pre-session” open to a wider spectrum of invited clients from BNP Paribas Fortis and an open exhibition on both days for our members, that are CCU technology providers. The focus this year was given to higher TRL and commercial solutions with the aim that all participants understand the spectrum of solutions that CCU can offer in fuels, chemicals, and materials.
During the afternoon sessions, our Secretary General, Anastasios Perimenis, presented the CO2 Value Europe activities and our future work plan. Afterwards, our Senior Policy Manager, Tudy Bernier, gave an update on the policy framework affecting CCU. The first day of our annual event closed with a warm welcome to our five new members Norsk-efuel, Storengy, CarbonWorks, The Japan Gas Association (JGA) and CDEC to our association and we had the opportunity to find out more about their technologies and core business.
On 7th October, we opened our second day of the CO2 Value Days with the presentation of the CCUS Forum by Chris Bolesta, Team Leader – Decarbonisation of energy sources & CCUS at the European Commission. CCUS Forum is a European Commission-led stakeholder platform aiming to gather inputs on key challenges for Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects across Europe. CO2 Value Europe is proud to be part of the CCUS Forum and will participate in the next plenary in Oslo at the end of October to adopt issue papers and discuss the work moving forward.
The next 2 sessions of our event included the presentation on the CO2 Value Europe’s Initiative for a European Roadmap on CCU by the CO2 Value Europe Secretariat, Climact and Whole Systems, and right after, BNP Paribas Fortis representatives presented the Financing of CCU projects.
Our 6th CO2 Value Days ended with the General Assembly and specifically with the elections of our new Board members, high-level professionals who have been pioneering the field of CCU for years.
